The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that all children have their first dental checkup by their first birthday.  This allows you to start good dental habits early that will prevent dental cavities in the future.

 At your child's first appointment, Dr. Haman, Dr. Lammeier, Dr. Cuellar or Dr. Sethi will review your child's medical history and current dental hygiene routine.  You will have plenty of time to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about your child at this time.  For infants and toddlers, the cleaning and exam will take place with the child sitting on your lap and laying back into Dr. Haman, Dr. Lammeier, Dr. Cuellar or Dr. Sethi's lap.  Most young children will cry during the exam, this is completely normal and parents should not be embarrassed or too concerned about this.
